If you believe in the rule of law it is painful to contemplate how the Canadian government broke its solemn 1870 promise to give land to Métis children in Manitoba. And almost as painful to read the Supreme Court’s effort in Manitoba Métis Federation v Canada to apply an incomprehensibly cosmic remedy to that injustice.
